Now that her children have grown up and she has to deal with empty nest syndrome she decided to become a full time author. Growing up, CJ Carmichael was huge on books as she loved to read a lot. She has made a name for herself writing novels about normal people that find themselves in extraordinary circumstances since that is the type of story she loves to write and read. Her husband also has two grown up daughters as well as family and friends in Montreal whom they visit on a regular basis. She believes that her two daughters’ good behavior made it so much easier. She always knew she wanted to have children but she found that motherhood was so much fun once she had Tessa and Lorelle, her two daughters. The reason for this is that she was brought up in Saskatchewan, on a farm where her family raised chickens and hogs, grew barley and for some time had the largest non commercial vegetable farm. Nonetheless, she still likes to consider herself a small town girl.
While Carmichael now makes her home in Calgary, she is a native of Vancouver and at some point, she spent about seven years in Toronto. They also love to relax and spend time in Flathead Lake, Montana which has been their summer home for years. The family loves the outdoors and can often be found hiking in the Rocky Mountains near Calgary. When CJ is not writing her novels, she loves to spend her time with her husband and her grown up daughters. In addition to her traditionally published novels, CJ has also written several cozy mystery novels as a self published author.
Since then, she has gone on to publish more than thirty five novels under Harlequin and several others with Tule Publishing, which is responsible for her western romance novels. Before she became a bestselling author, Carmichael used to be an accountant and she gave up the thrills of double entry book keeping and income tax forms when she published “Together by Christmas” under Harlequin Romance in 2002. The author has gotten two nominations for the RITA Romance Writers Award in addition to the Bestseller’s Best Honor and the Romantic Suspense award.
